Jack Foster Melton

Jack Foster Melton, age 93, a McMinnville, TN resident and Rock Island, TN native died September 27, 2016 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness. He was a self-employed appliance repairman, veteran of the United States Navy during WWII and son of the late George and Bertha Foster Melton. Mr. Melton was married to Taskah Madewell Melton who preceded him in death on February 13, 1998. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Frankie Morton; brother, Buck Melton; and sister, Margaret Newman. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Janie Morton Donalson and Toby Donalson of McMinnville; son, Mike Melton of McMinnville; grandson, Chris Morton and wife Christal of McMinnville; great-grandchild, Tyler Morton of McMinnville; sister, Frances Fults of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 in Philadelphia Cemetery with Ray Weddington to officiate. Military grave rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at High's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.
