Macon Osment Rains

McMinnville, TN resident and Woodbury, TN native Macon Osment Rains, age 88, was born June 10, 1928 and died October 28, 2016 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness. A homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late John Ernest "Mutt" and Jennie Adeline Barrett Osment. She was married December 3, 1949 to Virgil Vance Rains who preceded her in death on February 27, 1998. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Gracie Lee Osment Neal; and three brothers, William Milton Osment, Shelah Clifton Osment and Everett Shelton "Sonny" Osment. She is survived by two brothers and sister-in-law, Nelson Gray and Mary Fowler Osment of Rock Island, TN and Marlen Wayne Osment of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Pauline Osment of Cleveland, TN; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins and numerous friends; and special friend and caregiver, Alan Williams of McMinnville. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016 in High's Chapel with Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High's.
