Charlene Smartt Earle Killian

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Charlene Smartt Earle Killian, age 93, was born October 28, 1923 and died November 7, 2016 at Raintree Manor in McMinnville following an extended illness. A retired physician's assistant and office manager for Dr. M.F. Langston of Signal Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Laverne and Minnie Floyd Smartt Earle. She was married November 29, 1942 to John Casey Killian who preceded her in death on January 23, 2005. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Jacqueline Earle Sharpe; three brothers, Karl Davis, James Morris and Harold Porter Earle; two brothers-in-law, Ernest Sharpe and Joe Fisher; and sister-in-law, Doris Green Earle. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Karol and Ron McCracken of Signal Mountain, TN and Dr. Cynthia Sue Killian of Beersheba Springs, TN; two grandchildren, Dr. Michael McCracken and wife Rebecca of Birmingham, AL and Cayce Jacobson and husband Todd of Armuchee, GA; four great-grandchildren, James Kyle and John Christopher Jacobson of Armuchee, GA and Claire Elise and Julia Camille McCracken of Birmingham, AL; sister, Sue Earle Fisher of Madison, TN; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph "Pete" and Sarah Earle of Wilmington, NC and John Richard "Dick" and Bobbie Earle of Huntsville, AL; sister-in-law, Wanda Simmons Earle of Huntsville, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Killian was always active in the churches where she lived. She was a member of McMinnville United Methodist Church, Signal Mountain Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Chattanooga, and Philadelphia Baptist and New Hope Baptist churches of Warren County. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 in High's Chapel with Rev. J.N. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at High's. Memorial donations may be made to Beersheba Springs Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 582, Beersheba Springs, TN 37305.
