McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native James Claude Norrod, age 69, was born April 3, 1947 and died January 6, 2017 at his residence following a brief illness. A self-employed heavy equipment operator and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, he was the son of the late Claude Benton Norrod and Rosie Lee Hale Simmons. In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by step-father, Johnny Simmons. He was married to Oma Jean Rhea Norrod of McMinnvile. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Laurie Norrod of Florida; two daughters and son-in-law, Michelle and Rodney Nichols of McMinnville and Kimberly Prescott of McMinnville; ten grandchildren including spouses, Marissa Norrod, Hailey Curtis and husband Cameron, Haley Nichols, Brittany Hayes and husband Cody, Paige Merriman, Madison Merriman, Kloe Merriman and Drew Merriman; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Phyllis Norrod of Smithville, TN; two sisters and brother-in-law, Phyllis Ann Jones of McMinnville and Paula and David Rogers of McMinnville; brother-in-law, Robert Rhea of McMinnville; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017 in High's Chapel with Danny Reed Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High's.
