Vella Mai Redmon Poston, age 88, was born February 20, 1928 to the late John Monroe and Aubrey Adamson Redmon from Keltonburg, TN in DeKalb County and died January 10, 2017 at her residence in McMinnville, TN following an extended illness. Ms. Poston lived in Quebeck and Sparta of White County, TN most of her life. She worked at Sparta Shirt Factory, retired from Thomas Industries and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving and caring lady who always raised a garden and loved working in her flowers or quilting. She was known as a "queen without a crown" to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ardward Redmon of Doyle, TN and John L. Redmon of Sparta; two sisters, Willa Guy Ashley of Sparta and Annie L. Redmon of Sparta; two grandchildren, James Poston of Sparta and Nyoka Brewington of McMinnville; half-brother, Overton Patterson of Sparta; and son-in-law, David Graham of Sparta. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carlos and Mary Poston of Zephyrhills, FL and Charles and Darlene Poston of Sparta; two daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Graham of Sparta and Brenda and Joe Roberts of McMinnville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs with Rachel Cantrell to officiate. A viewing for family and friends will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at High's. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or Alzheimer's of Tennessee.
