Barbara Ward DeArmond, age 84, a McMinnville, TN resident and Catoosa County, GA native, passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital on April 2, 2017. She was born to the late Eva Cooper and Richard “Z.” Ward on June 21, 1932. She was married February 15, 1957 to George DeArmond who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Robert Ward. Upon moving to McMinnville in 1963, she became a member of First Baptist Church and dedicated her life to serving the Lord as the church organist and secretary in excess of 30 years. She began her musical career at about the age of 11 as the pianist at Peavine Baptist Church in Georgia. She is survived by her step-children, whom she raised and loved as her own, James DeArmond and wife Betty of McMinnville and Callie “Kathy” DeArmond and partner Randy Smith of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Georgia Bond and husband Johnny of McMinnville; eight grandchildren, Carol Quarles and husband Jackie, Jason DeArmond and wife Loree, Jeremy DeArmond, James Bond and wife Jenny, Kenneth Bond and partner Keri Myers, Johnathan Bond and fiancée April Fults and Constance Bond and fiancé Thomas Lusk; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Nelle Hicks of Ringold, GA and Elaine Pruette of Rock Spring, GA; sister-in-law, Jeanette Ward of Ringold, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in High’s Chapel with Jeff Owens to officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at High’s.
