McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Virgle Lee Greene, age 87 was born February 20, 1930 and departed this earth on April 7, 2017. He was a retired Tech Sergeant from the United States Air Force, serving from January 1948 until March 1968. His duties were Air Policeman, Flight Commander and Missile Security Supervisor. He later retired from Robert's Hardware after twenty-two years as a small engine mechanic, and he was a member of Salem Church of Christ. He was the son of the late Elam and Amanda Green. He married Bonnie Roberts Greene on December 7, 1952 and preceded him in death on December 26, 2014. In addition to his parents and his wife of 62 years, he was preceded in death by grandson, William Spencer "Spenceman" Lively, IV; sister, Velma Jones; and three brothers, Robert, Willie and Walter "Hawk" Green. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and Pat Greene of McMinnville and Cathy Greene of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Tatum (Boyce Brown) Prater of McMinnville and Lee Garrett Taylor of McMinnville; two step-grandchildren, Brandi Hodges and Zack Greene both of McMinnville; great-grandchild, Ginny Ann Hodges of McMinnville; step-great-grandchildren, Cole and Asher Wallace of McMinnville; two sisters, Ruby Elkins and Inez Pitmon both of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Betty Green of McMinnville, Lela Roberts of Perry, KS and JunaDell Pemberton and husband Doyle of Berryton, KS; special cousin, Aubrey Green of McMinnville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017 in High's Chapel with Titus Ward and Randall Gann officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High's.
