McMinnville, TN resident and Tompkinsville, KY native Wynema Whiteaker, age 89, was born January 1, 1928 and died August 18, 2017 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN following a sudden illness. Retired from Oster Corporation and a member of Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Wealthie Hale Carter. She was married on August 4, 1964 to Joe Edward Whiteaker who preceded her in death on July 15, 1995. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta Stone, Cleva Goad and Naomi Gentry. She is survived by two step-children, Janie Tenpenny of McMinnville and Ed Whiteaker of Florida; five step-grandchildren, Kristi Tenpenny and Trina Burks both of McMinnville, Joe Whiteaker of Florida, and Tim Whiteaker and Marty Woodlee both of Texas; five step-great-grandchildren, Dustin Walker, Evan Whiteaker, Leo Whiteaker, Iris Whiteaker and Oliver Woodlee; brother, Julius Carter of Kentucky; goddaughter, Tonya Matthews of Hartsville, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in High's Chapel with Lanny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.
