James Thomas “Tommy” Cox, Sr., age 74, a McMinnville, TN resident and Coffee County, TN native was born March 9, 1943 and died October 19, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness. He was a retired truck driver with Union Boiler Construction, member of Locust St. Church of God and son of the late William Nathan and Georgia Pearl Stewart Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Morris and Jimmy Cox. Mr. Cox was married May 12, 1967 to Joanna Cox who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James Thomas Cox, Jr. and wife Margo of Manchester, TN and Joseph Michael Cox and wife Marsha of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Stephanie Blazer, Heather Cox, Faith Cox and Shaun Cox all of Manchester; one great-grandchild, Jessalynn Blazer of Manchester; brother, Donnie Cox; sister, Martha Simmons of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 in High’s Chapel with Jeff Page and Paul Starkey to officiate. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at High’s.
