Emil Fay Melton, age 93, a Murfreesboro, TN resident and Warren County, TN native was born September 30, 1924 and died December 7, 2017 at her residence following a brief illness. She was a retired supervisor with DHS, member of First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro and daughter of the late Howell Madison and Althea Fay Hughes Carney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Berlie Melton; and brother, Thomas Butler Carney, Sr. Mrs. Melton is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Margaret and Gary Eaton and Fay Church all of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Kim Jones of Medina, TN and Alison Rigney of Lavergne, TN; three great-grandchildren; and four step-children, David Melton, Bob Melton and Linda Harrell all of Florida and Jean Furr of Metter, GA. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 in High’s Chapel with Michael O’Bannon to officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at High’s. Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro at 265 W.
