Frank "Dwight" Byars

Sparta, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Frank “Dwight” Byars, age 74, was born December 11, 1943 and died December 26, 2017 at his residence. A member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Frank and Imogene Turner Byars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Tony Byars. He was married to Martha Peavyhouse Byars of Sparta, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children and spouses, Gary Byars of Smyrna, TN, Terry Byars of Wilson County, TN, Mark and Risa Byars of Charleston, SC, Chris and Saskia Byars of Huntsville, AL, Jonathan and Donna Byars of Arlington, VA, Becky and Daniel Smith of Cookeville, TN and Chance Byars of Ft. Campbell, KY; seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; aunt, Joyce Wallace of Murfreesboro, TN; and special pet, Mikey. Dwight attended Centertown Elementary and Central High schools. He started tool & die at John Oster Manufacturing Company. He spent 40+ years in aerospace all over the country, with 20 years at Aerostructures in Nashville, TN and a couple of years in Oak Ridge. He helped design the Moon Box-Rock Samples. He worked at AVCO Aerostructures from 1969-1990 and McDonnell Douglas Aircraft from 1990-1993. He eventually retired from Bell Helicopter/Textron as the Sr. Vice-President of Manufacturing Operations where he worked from 1993-2003. He was a member of Brothers of The Third Wheel, Eagles Club, Moose Club, Sons of The American Legion, NRA and The Republicans. His interests included his famous sq. ft. garden, golf, bowling, motorcycles, fishing, animals and Tennessee Titans Tailgating. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 in High’s Chapel with Bro. Bill Williams officiating. There will be no burial. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at High’s. A special “thank you” goes out to Dr. Jack Jacobs.
