Al J. Stotts, 84, a McMinnville resident and Detroit, MI native was born July 11, 1935 and died June 3, 2020 at his residence after a brief illness. He was married to Marietta McBride Stotts on August 13, 1954. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jim (Kim) Stotts of Somerset, Ky and Kevin (Amanda) Stotts of McMinnville, TN; seven grandchildren, Kayla Stotts, Christopher Stotts, Kendra (Ross) Rogers, Alex Stills, Nicholas Ferree, Logan Ferree, and Malaki Ferree; brothers, David (Mary Jo) Stotts of Cincinnati, OH and Gary (Carolyn) Stotts of McMinnville, TN; brother-in-law, Eddie Muncey of McMinnville and sister-in-law, Marietta Garrison Stotts of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. Mr. Stotts was the son of the late Isaac Samuel “Al” and Mattie Pearl Dodson Stotts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gregory Stotts; brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Anna) Stotts; brother, James Stotts; sister Brenda Stotts Muncey; two nephews, Steven Stotts and Michael Muncey and one niece, Penny Muncey. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired policeman from the Cincinnati Police Department, served as Security Police for Arnold Air Force Base and retired as a Lieutenant from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Stotts had 53 years in law enforcement. He served the citizens of Cincinnati for 25 years and the citizens of Warren County for 19 years. He was a great law enforcement officer, supervisor, and friend who left a lasting legacy with those he served alongside. This loving husband, father, peepaw, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Mt. Zion Cemetery will Jackie Matheny officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at High’s. Military grave rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 173 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
