McMinnville, TN resident and native Albert Abner Carter, age 87, was born July 14, 1937 and died October 4, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was a Vietnam war veteran, retired United States Air Force Master Sgt. and an avid hunter and fisherman. A retired security guard with Powermatic, he was the son of the late John and Della Harris Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Mr. Carter was married February 21, 1992 to Joyce Taylor Carter of McMinnville who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by children, Jane Carter (Scott Holden) of Shelbyville, TN, Carolyn (Mike) Shirley of Smithville, TN and Albert (Crystal) Carter of Murfreesboro, TN; step-children, Mike (LeAnne) Williams of Smithville and Mark Williams of McMinnville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Schmink, Andrew Kennamer, Maya Ladner, Marley Thrasher, Owen Carter, Trishta Mead, Cash Williams, Hunter Williams and Caleb Williams; five great-grandchildren; sister, Maxie Gordy of New Mexico and several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside service and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Smithville, TN. Full military honors will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. There will be no service or visitation held at High's.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Mt. Holly Cemetery in Smithville, TN. Full military honors will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. There will be no service or visitation held at High's.
