Andrew Campbell Myers, III, born October 12, 1944 passed away after a brief illness September 6, 2023. Andy, called Papa by his grandchildren, will be remembered for his valiant determination over the last fifteen years to overcome several health obstacles. Surrounded by his immediate family, Andy had the great fortune to depart this life in the same house in which he was born.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Agronomy, Andy returned to Myers Cove to continue the family agricultural legacy. As the fifth generation to manage the farm, Andy was determined to enhance the property by growing conifers and established Myers Cove Nursery, Inc. After years in the industry, Andy was a pioneer in his decision to specialize in growing native trees and shrubs.
For those who knew Andy well, they appreciated his dry wit, along with his insistence that each of us marvel at the wonders in nature that he experienced each day. One of his hidden talents was his gift for writing. Later in life, he enjoyed sharing his poems with his dearest friends about nature, its beauty and bounty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Andrew Myers, Jr.; sister, Jan Myers Meitus and infant daughter, Elizabeth Lawrence Myers.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Boyd Myers; daughter, Elinor Myers Kenworthy (Randall); sons, Andrew C Myers IV and Benjamin L Myers (Anne Hunter); grandchildren, William Kenworthy and fiancé, Maclayne Heller, Matthew Kenworthy, Thomas Kenworthy and Mary, Catherine and George Myers; sister, Zoe Myers Rowell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Boyd and cousin, Mary Myers Winn.
