Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County native Anthony "Tony" Leon Hodges A.K.A. "Poppy" and "Pachi", age 71, was born November 19, 1952 and died August 26, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.
A United States Army veteran, retired, self-employed mason and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Elmer Walter Hodges and Bertha Lee Fults Hodges Crim. Tony loved writing poetry, making people laugh and loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepchildren, Jennifer Solomon and T.J. Burks; brothers, Walter Eugene Hodges and Marvin Lee Hodges; sister, Francis Roberts; nephews, Brian Martin and Tommy Hodges and great-niece, Brittany Taylor.
Mr. Hodges was married July 26, 2002 to Pam McCormick Hodges. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Serenity Moore, Destiny Hodges, Shae Hodges, Natasha (Bryan) Ferrell and Memphis Hodges all of McMinnville; grandchildren, Slayden Moore of Alabama and Luke Nisbett, Kyler Nisbett, Aiden Cummings, Emeri Cummings and Kayd Ferrell all of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Journi Moore and Beckham Nisbett both of McMinnville; sister, Barbara Knight; brother, Terry (Starla) Hodges; a host of nieces and nephews and special Army friends, Leo Eldridge and Earl Cook.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Intrepid Home Health and Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 in High's Chapel with Anthony Campbell and Billy Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday at High's. Full military honors will be administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173 at the funeral home.
