Arlene Oakley

March 2, 1936 — October 6, 2020

Arlene Oakley, age 84, a Green Hill area resident and native of DeKalb County was born March 2, 1936 and passed October 6, 2020 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was a retired machine operator at Frito Lay, a member of Dayspring Community Church, and the daughter of the late Brackett Estes and Chloe Mae Stoner Jones. Mrs. Oakley was married January 2, 1953 to John Ray Oakley, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by twin sister, Geraldean Reynolds; sisters, Frances Wilson, Opal Cantrell, Johnnie Jones, Faye Hobbs, and Gail Bouldin; brother, Clifton Jones and special nephew, Troy Max Reynolds. She is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Burton and Lena Jones from the Green Hill Community and sister-in-law, Cheryl Jones of Portland, TN. Many special nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Danny Jones and Teddy Jones officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at High’s. The family request that everyone wear mask and practice social distancing at the funeral home and cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any charity of one’s choice.
