McMinnville resident and Portsmouth, VA native Barry Dwayne Bloodworth, age 53, died June 9, 2018 at his residence.Barry was born August 13, 1964 in Portsmouth, VA. He later moved to Georgia where he graduated from Albany High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served on the VFW Post 5064 Honor Guard. He was retired on disability from the U.S. Social Security Administration where he served in the Billings, MT Office of Hearings and Appeals. Barry followed his Native American (Cherokee) culture and had recorded CD's of Native flute music. He was a member of the Church of God.Barry was the son of Earl W. and Gladys Kretzer Bloodworth of Bledsoe County, TN. Both parents survive, as do a host of other special family members and friends. Barry had also been adopted into a Crow family during his tenure in Montana.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lester and Thelma Bloodworth and maternal grandparents, Ernest and Gladys Kretzer.Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in High's Chapel with David Rogers, Fred Hopkins and Donnie Cox officiating. At Barry's request, he will be cremated following the funeral service. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday. Full military honors will be administered by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173 at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 5064 c/o High Funeral Home.
