McMinnville resident Betty Sue Grove, 91, was born September 10, 1930, and passed away September 5, 2022, at St.Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN, following a brief illness. Betty was the daughter of Tom and Lena Thurman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J. W, their infant daughter, Jennifer Carol, and brother Harold T. Thurman, and cousin Stacey Bonner. Survivors include her son, Steve Grove of McMinnville; cousins, Hazel (Thurman) Bennett of McMinnville, Pauline Wilson of Alabama, Frances Guffy of Georgia, Mary Belcher of Georgia, Evelyn Shoemake of Tennessee, and Dortha Smith of Tennessee; caregivers, Melba and Bob Bonner of McMinnville and special friend, Pat Whitlock of McMinnville. Many friends and cousins also survive. Betty was a dental assistant at the Warren County Health Department. In later years she was employed at Cheer Mental Health and worked well into her early 80’s until she retired. Betty dearly loved her family and many friends. She was a lifelong caregiver who cared for her mother, Lena, and later her husband, J. W. She was a devoted mother to her son Steve, and until her passing she dedicated herself to giving him the best of care. Betty loved to work in her yard. Evidence of her green thumb could easily be seen in the beauty of the plants and flowers growing everywhere. Betty was a lover of animals, especially their dogs, Zoe and Belle. Most importantly, Betty was a lifelong Christian. She was a member of the Westwood Church of Christ.
