McMinnville, TN resident and DeKalb County, TN native Billy Jack Barnes, age 78, was born November 27, 1942 and died August 2, 2021 at Willow Branch Health and Rehabilitation in McMinnville, TN following an extended illness. The retired owner and operator of Carpet Beauty Cleaning Service for over 40 years and a member of Mt. Hope the Baptist Church of Christ at Jefferson in DeKalb County. He was a member and Past Master of Ezel Lodge #381, member of the Nashville Scottish Rite, and a member of the Al Menah Temple in Nashville. He was the son of the late William Horace and Girtha Jones Barnes. He was married to Alice Eileen Richardson of McMinnville, TN on October 7, 1965. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Allan Wayne Barnes; granddaughter, Ashlyn Nicole Barnes; brothers, Roscoe, Charles, and Cordell Barnes; and sisters, Marie Rigsby, Bobbie Warren, Lucille Allen, and Cleo Kelly. In addition to his wife, Mr. Barnes is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Barnes of McMinnville, TN and Justin and Kathryn Barnes of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Travis (Harley) Barnes of Manchester, TN, Tyler Barnes of McMinnville, TN, Sarah (Logan) Birdwell of Nashville, TN, Charles Blake Barnes of Nashville, TN, and Emma Margaret Barnes of Chattanooga, TN; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 in High’s Chapel with Frank Randolph and Dwight Knowles officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery in Dekalb County, TN. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at High’s. A masonic service will take place Friday at 7:00 p.m. during visitation.
