Bobby Jack Starkey, Sr. age 82, a Nashville TN resident and Warren County native was born on February 21, 1939 and passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Alive Hospice in Nashville after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Jack Johnson Starkey and Kate Durham Starkey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Starkey, in 2019. Bobby Jack, as many called him growing up, was a retired Metro Water Services employee for 39 ½ years. He was one of the first 5 African American employees hired by the city of Nashville in 1963. Bobby was educated in Warren County, TN. He was a man of God and willing to help and serve others. He was a long-time member of Ramsey St for a number of years. Upon his death, he was an active member of the 7th Ave Church of Christ in Nashville. He was a quiet man until he had something to say. He will always be remembered by other cherished names: Bobby Jimmy, Bobby Daddy, G-Paw, Granddaddy Money Bags, Granddaddy and just our DADDY! He leaves behind to carry on this journey: Sheri (Jerry) Officer of Nashville; Glenna (Jeff) Powell of Gallatin and Bobby (Tikina) Starkey, Jr. of Lebanon and 7 grandchildren: Brandon, Kiya, Shanea, Asia, Aijalon, Taylor, Braxton and host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Ramsey Street Church of Christ in Nashville, TN with Kenneth Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery North, 1248 Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Ramsey Street Church of Christ.
