McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN Bobby Joe Davenport, age 88, was born April 9, 1934 and passed away at home on June 26, 2022 following an extended illness. Mr. Davenport graduated from McMinnville Central High School in the class of 1952 and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He worked as a tool and die maker for Century/Magnetek Electric until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Davenport loved to read, especially Louis L’Amour western books, enjoyed growing a vegetable garden and was fortunate to travel with the Just Friends group to many wonderful cities and areas of the country. He was a member and former deacon of First Baptist Church in McMinnville, TN. He was the eldest son of the late Raydon Coleman and Elsie Blanks Davenport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Jean McClung and Betty Joyce Davenport Smith. Mr. Davenport is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Faye Barnes Davenport of McMinnville, TN; daughter, Keri Elizabeth Davenport of Brentwood, TN; brother, Jerry (Linda) Davenport of McMinnville, TN; sister-in-law, June (Phillip) Gribble of Rock Island, TN; nieces, Phyllis Kamacho of Goodlettsville, TN, LeeAnne (Bill) Brewer, Karen (Joe) Smith and Pam (Tommy) Harris, all of McMinnville, TN; bonus niece, Ann Simpson of Goodlettsville, TN; nephews, Earl McClung, Randal (Cindy) Smith, Jay Davenport and Mike Simmons all of McMinnville, TN and many dear friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Jeff Owens and Bo Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.
