Brenda Joyce Eckert

June 13, 1940 — February 22, 2020

McMinnville resident, Brenda Joyce Eckert, was born in Vidalia GA on June 13th, 1940. A prior resident of Tucson AZ, West Palm Beach, FL and the Lehigh Valley PA, Joyce passed into glory at home February 22nd, after an extended illness. Mrs. Eckert was the daughter of Letha Mae and Raymond Polk, both deceased. Also precious was her well loved stepmother Catherine Want, deceased, and her living husband Henry Want Sr., Cordes Lakes, AZ. A proud mother of three, Mrs. Eckert was preceded in death by husband William Eckert, Danielsville, PA. She is survived by daughters Regina (Philip) Geissler, Brenda (Dean) Salamone Wood, Heather (Michael) Salamone Schwanke and beloved granddaughter Beverly Joyce Salamone, as well as three adult step children, including William Eckert Jr., Audrey Eckert and Robert Eckert. She is further survived by the father of her children and former husband Placido (Tracy) Salamone of Asheville NC. Joyce will be missed by precious sisters Shelby Haynes, Albuquerque, NM, Faith (Tom) Sessions, Blairsville GA and Kathie Ramona (Dee) Myrow, Cordes Lakes AZ, brother William (Linda) Raymond Polk, Phoenix, AZ and step brother Henry Want Jr, Cordes Lakes AZ. In addition, she is predeceased by brother Alan Evans, sisters and brothers-in-law Ann (Tom) Flanigan and Kay (Gary) Scott, all three of GA. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends will remember her with love. In life, Joyce was a homemaker, composer of wonderful poetry, a soprano singer and soloist at Trinity Baptist Church, where she worshiped with her beloved church family. She held jobs at the phone company in Tucson AZ, a bank in PA and the bank’s technical writing department, where she was able to use the writing degree she earned at Palm Beach County Community College, FL. She played many interesting parts in community and college theaters and was the costumer for a few plays. Most of all, she was known to be a dear mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who made everyone family. A Celebration of Life for Brenda Joyce Eckert is scheduled for 5PM Friday February 25th at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 1701 John Oliver Rd, McMinnville, TN 37110 for close friends and family.
