Bro. Robert Carl Smith

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Bro. Robert Carl Smith, age 95, was born September 28, 1928 and died November 26, 2023 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following a brief illness.           

Bro. Smith was the son of the late Henry Richmond and Callie Lavinnia Davenport Smith, was born into a family of singers and was the only preacher in the family who pastored the Madison Street Baptist Church for 53.5 years. He was married to Christine Blair Smith on April 29, 1950 who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sister, Gladys Mae Smith; brothers, Alton James Smith, Berlie Richmond and Kenneth Eugene Smith and grandson, Cory Lynn Judkins.

Bro. Smith is survived by children, Jack (Connie) Smith and Phyllis (Larry) Judkins, both of McMinnville; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Smith (Eddie) Owens, John Kelly Judkins, Tracie Click and Paul Bear, J.J. (Lindsey) Smith, Wes (Joni) Johnson and Chelsea Smith; great-grandchildren, Luke (Abbie) Crawford, Khloe Baker, Isabella (Isaiah) Harrington, Ashlyn Newby, Ady Judkins, Abbigale Lynn Judkins, Alyx Smith, Aniston Smith, Katie Hale and Derrik Hale; four great-great-grandchildren and one on the way and sister, Wilma Doris Markum. 

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Madison Street Baptist Church with Bobby Southard, Chuck Young, Pete Mullins and Harlen Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at High’s and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
