Carolyn Marie (Davis) Elrod was born on December 6, 1940 and transitioned to her eternal home on October 28, 2022. She was the only child of Isaac and Matilda (Ralston) Davis and was born in Nashville, TN. She spent the majority of her life as a proud resident of McMinnville, TN where she and the love of her life, Sammy David Elrod, started and raised their family. Carolyn was a dedicated wife to Sammy as they faced and survived many years of medical challenges. Despite these life-altering conditions, through faith, courage, fortitude and the love and support of the McMinnville community and West Riverside Church of Christ, the Sammy Elrod family thrived and were and are contributing members of their community. In addition to caring for her family Carolyn worked many years at Martin and Glenn and then for the City of McMinnville. As in all aspects of her life, both opportunities enabled Carolyn to serve others genuinely and happily, as was one of her many endearing qualities. She was also a faithful and dedicated member of West Riverside Church of Christ.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents and her beloved Sammy. She is survived by their daughters, Kerri (Elrod) Balthrop (Hal) and Angela (Elrod) Mullican (Randy). Carolyn was known as Memy to her five (5) grandchildren, Keely (Balthrop) Higbie (Michael), Caitlin (Balthrop) Moffitt (Josh), Halston Balthrop (Brittney), Alexandra (Mullican) Shanks (Wes), Kyle Mullican (Emily). Carolyn and the family were always grateful that Sammy got to see much of their daughter’s lives and all of his grandchildren before his passing in 1990. Carolyn was also Gigi/Memy to her nine (9) great-grandchildren.
