Charlene Dye Woodlee

Charlene Dye Woodlee, age 83, a resident of McMinnville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at her home after an extended illness, her husband and children by her side. She was born in Hawkins County, TN, and was one of eight children. She was a Christian and a member of Bonner Church of Christ. Early in her marriage of sixty-three years, Charlene and her husband Gordon had a true sense of adventure living in Asia, South America, and numerous states as they traveled for various job assignments before settling back in Tennessee. Charlene was a dedicated CNA and caregiver to countless individuals at Raintree Manor where she worked for thirty years. She was adored by the patients she cared for. She was a warrior and a champion for her family. Her gentle touch and kindness were her signature as she loved, comforted, and cared for so many. She was selfless and kind. Charlene is survived by her husband, Gordon Woodlee, daughter Debra Mailley (Ken) of Murfreesboro, and son Jeff Woodlee (Tara) of Knoxville, grandchildren Ryan Mailley of Nashville, Briana Mailley Arnold (Forrest) of Murfreesboro, Gordie Woodlee and Charley Elizabeth Woodlee of Knoxville. She was preceeded in death by an infant son, Michael Timothy Woodlee. Charlene was the daughter of the late William and Mattie Dye of Hawkins County and preceded in death by brothers Howard Dye, Donald Dye, Wayne Dye, and sister Tina Burr. Surviving are sister Glenda Hammer of Rockford, Il, and brothers John Dye of Rogersville, TN, and Paul Dye of Springfield, MO, and brother-in-law Jerry Woodlee of Lake Charles, LA. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Charlene kept family members connected and updated on major life events. She found great joy in celebrating all the successes of her family while supporting them with her beautiful spirit and gentle encouragement. Services for Charlene will be at High’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 4:00 to 8:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 1:00 with the service to follow. The family has respectfully requested that visitors wear masks. Burial will be at Armstrong Cemetery in Irving College, TN. The family would like to give special thanks to Avalon Hospice for their loving care.
