McMinnville, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Charles Augustus Baker, age 75, was born September 24, 1944 and died January 19, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness. Retired from Carrier Corporation, the owner/operator of Baker's Cabinets, and a member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late J.D. and Emma Lou Mills Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Pamela Gail Baker Cook; brother, Ben Baker; and brother-in-law, Ansel Simmons. He was married on January 15, 1966 to Pearline Hillis Baker of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sally Baker of Rock Island, TN; four grandchildren, Morgan Thaxton and Peyton Baker both of McMinnville, Lytle Jackson of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kyla Baker of Rock Island, TN; special grandchild, Sadie Girl Baker; brother and sister-in-law, James and Shirley Baker of McMinnville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Simmons, Jenny Sue and J.D. Simmons, and Geneva Ann and Earl Yates all of Van Buren County, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in High's Chapel with Keven Key officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at High's.
