Charles Austin Jones

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Charles Austin Jones, age 95, was born May 6, 1923 and died August 18, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.A quartermaster for the VFW, a United States Army veteran of WWII, and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Clyde S. and Johnnie Ida Green Jones, Sr. He was married on August 3, 1947 to Mildred "Mickey" Imogene Boyd Jones who preceded him in death on November 26, 2008. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Dee Jones and Sutton Jones; sister, Dorothy Mullican; and brother, Jimmy Jones.He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Wayne Baker of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Suzanne C. Jones of London, OH, Bethany A. Beets of Prattville, AL, and Danielle Baker, Katie Baker, Austin Baker and Breanna Baker all of McMinnville; three great-grandchildren, Madilyn McKnight, Cade McKnight and Gus Beets; and brother, Clyde Jones, Jr. of Huntsville, AL.Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in High's Chapel with Ricky Magness and Bill Walkup officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at High's.Memorials may be made to Gideon Bibles or Avalon Hospice.
