Charles "Chico" Jacobs was born in Vervilla, TN on August 5, 1938 and died September 13, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness. His parents were the late Andrew and Minnie Hollis Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs retired following a thirty-eight year banking career that began as a teller in 1968. When he retired in 2006, he was Chairman and CEO of First National Bank. During this time he was involved with many civic and community activities. He was past-president of the McMinnville Jaycees, McMinnville Noon Rotary, McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, McMinnville Country Club and served as Chairman of the Stars and Stripes committee in the early eighties that revived the downtown celebration of the 4th of July. In 1985 the committee celebrated the 175th anniversary of the City of McMinnville. Jacobs was a former vice-mayor and alderman for the City of McMinnville. While he was on the board, construction of the McMinnville Civic Center began. What he enjoyed and got the most satisfaction out of was the over twenty-five years he worked with the youth sports organizations in McMinnville. He received the Jaycee of the year in 1970, Young Man of the Year in 1971 and Free Enterprise Award from the Chamber of Commerce.
Family was very important in his life. The first Sunday in May, the third Saturday in July, the fourth Thursday in November, the first Saturday in December, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are days he looked forward to with anticipation and enjoyed immensely each year.
He is survived by the love of his life, whom he married on May 24, 1959, Lynne White Jacobs. In addition to his wife, he is survived by cherished sons, Stan (Sherry) Jacobs of McMinnville and Roger (Marcy) Jacobs of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren that he treasured, Sarah (Jeremy) McGregor, Cooper Jacobs and Miles Jacobs; beloved sister, Vivian Toman of Naperville, IL; brother-in-law, Aaron White and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by two sisters, Waldine Whitehead and Jo Robinson; seven brothers, Eugene, Ted, Harris, Clarence, Leslie, Bill and John Jacobs and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Aaron White.
