McMinnville, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Charles Edward Steakley, age 92, was born February 28, 1926 and died July 22, 2018 at his residence following a short illness.Retired from Texas Instruments, a United States Army veteran of WWII, and a member of Friendship The Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Will and Ola Carrie Gooch Steakley. He was married to Lavada Ann Tritt Steakley who preceded him in death on March 9, 2011. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by infant daughter, Joy Ann Steakley; grandson, Travis Steakley; and five brothers and one sister.He is survived by five children and spouses, Bonnie Carter of Lebanon, TN, Gloria Patterson of Morgantown, WV, Jerry and Earline Steakley of McMinnville, Joan Steakley of McMinnville, and Tiffany and Jason Reed of Morrison, TN; three grandchildren, Camie Carter of Lebanon, TN, Lori Hendrix of Smithville, TN and Charles Ethan Steakley of McMinnville; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in High's Chapel with Jason Brown officiating. Burial will follow in McElroy Cemetery, Van Buren County, TN with military grave rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
