Clifton Edward Jones, age 71, a Sumner County resident and Warren County native, was born April 8, 1948 and passed away October 26, 2019 following an extended illness. He was a retired owner/operator of Jones Landscaping and Irrigation Contractors, a member of the Baptist Church, and the son of the late Brackett and Chloe Stoner Jones. He was also preceded in death by grandson, Mason Cranford; sisters, Frances Wilson, Opal Cantrell, Faye Hobbs, Geraldine Reynolds, Gail Bouldin and Johnnie Mae Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by wife Cheryl Watson Jones, Portland, TN; two sons, Travis and Andrea Jones, Walling, TN, Joel and Amie Jones, Sparta, TN; daughter, Kristal Mason, Smithville, TN; two step-sons, Bobby and Natalie Cranford, Portland, TN, Barry and Becky Cranford, Portland, TN; eleven grandchildren, Mason, Brittney, Avery, Justin, Anna, Amy, Allie, Ava, Ian, Maddox, and Theron; two step-grandchildren, Zach and KayLee; sister, Arlene Jones Oakley, Rock Island, TN; brother, Burton and Lena Jones, Smithville, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in High’s Chapel with Danny Jones and Teddy Jones officiating. Inurnment will be held in Jefferson Cemetery in DeKalb County at a later date. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 2:30 PM on Wednesday.
