David Earl Rogers

David Earl Rogers, age 82, a McMinnville, TN resident and Grundy County, TN native, was born October 31, 1937 and passed June 11, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, a retired mechanic, and the son of the late Hervey Thomas and Lassie J. Smartt Rogers. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Alene Hobbs and Helen Lynn and brothers, T.J. “Buck” Rogers, and Franklin Rogers. Mr. Rogers was married June 3, 1961 to Mary Reed Rogers. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three children, Cindy (Tim) Jacobs of McMinnville, David (Paula) Rogers, Jr. of McMinnville, and Lisa (Mike) Thaxton of Viola; seven grandchildren, Craig (Tara) Rogers of Medina, TN, Josh (Andrea) Thaxton of McMinnville, Jared (McKenzie) Jacobs of McMinnville, Kylie (Ryan) Vincion of Viola, Allison (Dylan) Pottenger of Portland, Maine, Lauren Rogers of Cookeville and Layla (Brett) Burgess of Manchester; twelve great-grandchildren, Brinlee, Zoey, Caden, Payton, Baylee, Elsie, Chandler, Declan, Vinny, Rylan, Knox, and Charlee-Mae; brother-in-law, Eddie Reed and sister-in-law, Betty Rogers. A graveside service and interment will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Buddy Reed officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
