McMinnville resident and Sparta, TN native David Key, age 66, was born March 1, 1958 and died April 14, 2024 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following a sudden illness. A retired project manager with W and W Plumbing and member of First Baptist Church of Smartt, he was the son of the late Larry David Key, Sr. and Gurtie Louzona Conley Key. David most recently worked part-time at Warren County Sanitation Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Ova Key. Mr. Key was married to Joy Key of McMinnville on February 7, 1990. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Jason (April) Todd, Jerry Jones and Cristi Morales, all of McMinnville, Jamie (Ericka) Todd of South Carolina and Melissa Ghee Cantrell of McMinnville; thirteen grandchildren, Madison (Dakota) Bond, McKayla Todd, Kyle Todd, Jase Todd, Elijah Todd, Adeline Todd, Allie Tate, Gabriel, Pacey and Pennye Tate, Devin (Kaylee) Key, Tiara (Ethan) Dodd and Cole Dodd; seven great-grandchildren, Ava, Arii, Avi, Nova, Levi, Kacey and Cooper; special friend, Daniel Duree and Scott Bell; brothers, Henry Key and Billy Key and sisters, Jackie (Billy) Gennings, Annette Walls and Terisia (Jeremy) Finchum. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday April 18, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Smartt with Johnny Newby officiating. Burial will follow at Charles Creek Cemetery in Warren County.
