Dorothy Jean "Mama Jean" Childress

Dorothy Jean “Mama Jean” Childress, age 85, a Warren County, TN resident and native was born March 24, 1933 and passed away February 26, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness. She was a retired driver for UCARTS, member of Trinity Baptist Church and daughter of the late Charles C. and Maude Newby Harding. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, I.C. Jones; second husband, William Childress; son, David K. Jones; four brothers, Lloyd, Charles Jr. “Chicken”, Edwin and Edward Harding; and two sisters, Jodie Carty and Margaret King. Mrs. Childress is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Nesmith of McMinnville; son, Mark S. Jones and fiancée Carla Northcutt of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Billy Brock and wife Bethany, Joseph Brock and Jeremy Jones all of McMinnville; four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell Clark and Joanie Harding of Dearborn, MI; and sisters-in-law, Mildred Harding of Brentwood, TN and Jan Jones of Estill Springs, TN. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 in High’s Chapel with Dr. Dean Northcutt to officiate. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. Friday until the time of service at High’s.
