McMinnville resident and Rutherford County, TN native Elbert Franklin “Peanut” Willis, age 74, was born October 2, 1949 and died September 24, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.
A veteran of the United States Navy, retired framer and welder and pastor of Way of the Cross Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Louise Halliburton Barrett Willis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Lark Willis.
He was married to Betty Willis of McMinnville on March 20, 1993. In addition to his wife, Mr. Willis is survived by Michelle (Marvin) Baird of Hillsboro, TN and Shannon Seabaugh (Jeff Johnson) and Frank (Cassie) Willis, both of Murfreesboro, TN; seven grandchildren, Christopher Casto, Timothy Casto, Austin Baird, Shelby Seabaugh, Kaylee Seabaugh, Kinsley Willis, Bennett Willis; six great-grandchildren, Landon Casto, Keegan Casto, Connor Casto, Nathaniel Casto, Emmett Casto and Jimmy Ross; three siblings, James Willis of Woodbury, TN and Boyd Willis and Linda Brewer, both of Murfreesboro, TN and half-sister, Lettie Marie Barrett of Watertown, TN.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Calvin Carroll and Ray Skyles officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery in Dekalb County, TN. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
