Eugene Nathaniel Prater, age 90, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County native was born June 24, 1929 and passed away April 20, 2020 at his residence following a brief illness. He was a farmer, a Christian, a member of Keltonburg Church of Christ, and the son of the late Samuel Arley and Mary Ellen Lowe Prater. He was also preceded in death by grandson, Robert Dunn; sisters, Nina Prater McCormick and Lucille Prater Rhinehart and brothers, Cecil, Glenn, and Luther Prater. Mr. Prater was married almost 70 years to Mamie Virginia Blankenship Prater, who survives. He is also survived by son and daughter-in-law, Mark Anthony (Paula) Prater of McMinnville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carmella (Eugene) Womack of McMinnville, Mary Jane Prater of McMinnville, and Rebecca (Anthony) Campbell of Rock Island; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Prater was very adventurous. He was a Charter Member of the Tennessee National Guard in McMinnville and served for 14 years. He also served for several years in the Tennessee State Guard. He was a dairyman for 45 years. He was an advisor and traveled for three weeks through Cambodia on a Benevolent Mission. He oversaw the collection of clothing and medical supplies that were sent to Cambodia. A private graveside and interment will be held for family only at Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs with Bobby Cloyd officiating. No visitation will be held at High’s.
