Eva Nell Bess

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Eva Nell Bess, age 84, was born November 13, 1937 and died February 1, 2022 at Willow Branch Health and Rehabilitation in McMinnville following an extended illness. A homemaker and of the Baptist faith, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Grace Fults Slaughter. She was married to “G.D.” Bess of McMinnville, TN on June 16, 1956. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Laura Smartt, Alma Barnes, Geneva Smartt, Lodema Slaughter, and Frances Butcher and four brothers, Leon, Hughie, Charles, and J.E. Slaughter. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bess is survived by sons, Randy (Tanya) Bess and Mickey (Lisa) Bess, both of McMinnville, TN; four grandchildren, Ryan Bess and Lacey (River) Underwood, both of McMinnville, TN, Jordan Bess (Jonathan Presley) of Rock Island, TN, and Kaine Robinson of McMinnville, TN; three great-grandchildren, Easton Underwood, Willow Underwood, and Kyler Robinson; special friend, Robert Gonzalez of McMinnville, TN; two sisters, Hallie Warren and Wilma Brock, both of McMinnville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Carson Rust officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery at Hills Creek in Warren County, TN.
