McMinnville resident and Cannon County, TN native Floyd Philip Murphy, age 75, was born July 21, 1949 and died September 11, 2024 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville following a sudden illness.
A veteran of the United States Army and retired dump truck driver for Hobb’s Trucking and Wright’s Paving, he was the son of the late Floyd and Noma Powell Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, John Murphy, Olivene Smith and Linda Brewer.
He was married to Becky Murphy of McMinnville on October 23, 1998. In addition to his wife, Mr. Murphy is survived by four daughters, Misty Haston, Nicole McDowell, Stephanie Wanamaker (Fred Ware) and Shellie (Chris) Jordan, all of McMinnville; seven grandchildren, Trevin Wanamaker, Tray Mize, Kaylan Jordan, Destiny Baker, Markie Haston, Paige Haston and Landon Jordan; great-grandchildren, Preston Wanamaker, Milah Vanloo, Ariya Vanloo, Daxton Baker, Huxton Baker, Ellowyn Baker, Gia Dennison and four other great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Joyce (Joe) Malott of Niles, MI and Carolyn "Tiny" (Wayne) Amonett of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews and special friends, John Brown, Parker Myers, Gary Myers and Chris Myers.
A celebration of life visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024 at High's.
