George Boles (G.B.) Greene, age 80, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County native was born March 23, 1939 and passed away September 22, 2019, at his residence. Mr. Greene was the owner of Womack Printing Company, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Westwood Church of Christ, and son of late George C. and Rachel Neal Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Alton, Johnny and Kenneth Greene and sisters Wilma Pistole and Melba Griffith. Mr. Greene was married in 1968 to Susan Boyd Greene who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughter-in-law G. B. “Chip” Greene, Jr. of Nashville, TN and Fernando and Terra Greene of Murfreesboro, TN; grandson Oliver Harrison “Ollie” Greene of Murfreesboro, TN; brother and sister-in-law Fred and Faye Greene of McMinnville; sisters Hannah Davis, Joyce Pirtle and Kaye Worzek of McMinnville, TN; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Jerry Davenport of McMinnville, TN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Greene served as a director of First National Bank for many years. He was a former president of the McMinnville Jaycees and was invited to join the McMinnville Rotary Club in 1971. He also served as a director of River Park Hospital. G.B. was the recipient of numerous awards including: the Jaycees 1973 Outstand Young Men of America award and in 1974 the Jaycees Distinguished Service Award; awards from Boyd Christian School in 1984 and 2012 for support and service; the 1993 Who’s Who in Leading American Executives; the 2016 Exchange Club Golden Deeds Award; and the Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Membership Award. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Central Church of Christ with James Vandiver and Mark Pirtle officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at High’s. Memorial contributions may be made to F.C. Boyd, Sr. Christian School or a charity of your choice.
