Gearldean Bratcher Prater, age 79, a McMinnville, TN resident and DeKalb County native was born August 3, 1940 and passed away on December 9, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford following an extended illness. She was a retired bookkeeper with Fraley’s for over 30 years, a licensed real estate broker, a member of Ivy Bluff Church of Christ and the daughter of the late Jacob Payton and Rosie Lee Cope Bratcher. She was married February 12, 1965 to Arthur Huston “Hootie” Prater who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Rayburn Bratcher and infant brother Alton Bratcher. Mrs. Prater is survived by two sons, Phillip (Bridgett) Prater of McMinnville, TN, Eddie (Bonnie) Patterson of McMinnville, TN; five grandchildren, Megan Ferrell of McMinnville, TN, Clint (Brenda) Patterson of Knoxville, TN, Kaitlin Patterson (Fiance, Thomas Parker) of McMinnville, TN, Will Prater of McMinnville, TN and John Porter Prater of McMinnville, TN; five great-grandchildren, Grayson Mollinet, Kaydance Ferrell, Braylen Ferrell, Koen Ferrell and Cole Patterson; brother, Melvin (Pam) Bratcher of McMinnville, TN; sisters, Eva (Willard) Ralph, Jr. of McMinnville, TN and Shirley (Joe) Young of Woodbury, TN; sister-in-law, Rose Bratcher of McMinnville, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2019 in High’s Chapel with Clint Patterson and Brian Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Ivy Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at High’s.
