George Clifford Reel

George Clifford Reel, 95 was born in Hamilton County, Tennessee to Minnie Leola Dagnan and George Washington Reel on September 24, 1923 and died September 5, 2019 in McMinnville, Tennessee. He served in Pearl Harbor and the South Pacific during WWII in the US Navy as a Pharmacist Mate First Class.  He graduated from Marion County High School and continued his education at Freed Hardeman College, Pepperdine College, Abilene Christian College (BA), and University of Tennessee Knoxville where he received a MS in Education Administration. He taught at Clinton High School in Clinton Tennessee in the 1950s and was Principal of Boyd Buchanan School in the 1960s. He was Director of the East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions in Karns Tennessee in the 1970s. Clifford preached the gospel for over 70 years. He worked with the churches of Christ in Tennessee: Clinton, New York Avenue (Oak Ridge), East Brainerd (Chattanooga), and Oneida; and in Lynchburg, Virginia and Lake Placid, Florida. He did mission work in Ireland, Scotland, Virgin Islands (St Thomas), Ukraine, and India. He was preceded in death by a son, Kip and a daughter, Sara. Left to treasure memories of him are his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Jean (Duncan) Reel, his children Lisa (Tom) Connor, and Lori (Bill) Boyd, and daughter in law, Mary Reel, his grandchildren Ben and Danielle Reel, Matt Reel, Lincoln Reel, Maggie and David White, Anna Connor, Patrick and Sarah Connor, Joseph and Ginger Connor, Rose and Chad Banks, Cliff and Shawna Boyd, John and Jessica Boyd, Sara and Justin Reed, and great grandchildren Georgia, Nolan, Mabel, Charlie, Lena, William, Avonlea, Henry, Ava Ruth, Nora, Wynter, Luke, and Meadow Mae. Friends may visit with the Reel family on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 12 noon until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Oneida Church of Christ with Bro. Don Iverson officiating. Committal service will be in the Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens at 4 p.m. in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: India Missions, PO Box 1413, Banner Elk, NC 28604. Jones & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of George Clifford Reel.
