Lifelong McMinnville and Warren County native George “Fred” Martin, III, age 72, was born January 21, 1952 and passed away June 26, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.
A member of the Tennessee National Guard and of the Baptist faith, he was the son of George Fred Martin, Jr. and Mildred Seals Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, George Fred Martin, Sr. and Wavie Cooley Martin and Arthur Seals and Willie Mae Wigington Seals. Also his in-laws, Charles Thomas Reynolds and Barbara McGiboney Reynolds.
In the footsteps of his father and grandfather, he continued a career in the automotive industry, retiring from General Parts/CarQuest as District Sales Manager after 25 years with the company. His skills and knowledge of vintage classic cars and hot rods ultimately resulted in many restoration projects through his hobby garage. Over many years of countless road trips with friends and family, he spread his love for the classics and the camaraderie of like-minded people. He shared his automotive enthusiasm with others.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, August 10, 1973, Rhonda Reynolds Martin; daughter, Megan (Charlie) Clarke; grandsons, Collins Clarke and Martin Clarke; son, Garrett Flynn Martin; brother-in-law, Ryan (Leslie) Reynolds; sister, Marilyn (Hollis) Hoyland; brother, Stan (LaMaine) Martin and nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was held at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
