Gordon David Woods affectionately known as “Hugo” to his friends, passed this life Monday, October 19, 2020 at his residence following a long lingering illness. He was born October 2, 1969 in Fort Pierce, Florida to the late Alton and Betty Wilcher Woods. He was the youngest of four children. David loved life and had an infectious sense of humor, a sarcastic wit, and always a comeback to any comment. He enjoyed hanging out with his brother, Jeff, and closest friends, Jerry Beaty, Connie Jaco, and Tom and Dena Tanner. He was an avid UT fan. Win or lose, they were his team. He was a loyal fan of the Florida Marlins and Denver Broncos. He enjoyed Nascar, mud bogs, and going to car shows. He was a diehard Dodge man. He loved watching his brother, Jeff, dirt track race for many years. David was a 19 year employee of Bridgestone America of Morrison, TN and a 2 year employee of Hankook Tire in Clarksville, TN, until his health caused him to retire. While employed with Hankook Tire, he had the opportunity to travel to Budapest, Hungary. He is survived by his sister, Christy (Jerry) Barnes of McMinnville, TN; brothers, Jeff Woods of the Centertown Community, and Matt Woods of Port St. Lucie, FL; beloved niece, Amanda (Kevin) Turner of Morrison, TN; nephew, Jerremy (Rachel) Barnes of McMinnville, TN; three great nieces, Katie Barnes, Brooklyn Turner, and Taylor Turner; and great nephew, Zachery Barnes. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Avalon Hospice or Viola Valley Dog Rescue c/o High’s. A private burial will be held at Crain Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
