Herman Hall Stubblefield

Herman Hall Stubblefield, age 101, passed away on April 4, 2022. He was born January 21, 1921 to the late Herman Powell Stubblefield and Mamie Hall Stubblefield of Viola, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 72 years Rebecca “Becky” Watson Stubblefield, brothers Robert, Edwin, James, and Charles, and adopted daughter Vera and son Locksley Stubblefield. He is survived by his sister Sarah Collier, daughters Anne Napier and Tonye Stubblefield, daughter-in-law Ellen Stubblefield, three grandsons Brett Napier, Landon Stubblefield and his wife Katherine Klockenkemper Stubblefield, Madison Stubblefield and his fiancée Anna Samuels, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was an alumnus of David Lipscomb College, where he met Becky in 1941. They courted by mail while Herman served as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. They married on October 6, 1944. Herman later retired as chief pilot and aviation manager from Vulcan Materials Company. He also served as a deacon and an elder at Homewood Church of Christ, where he was a member for almost 50 years. Decorated for his service, Herman was also honored with a variety of awards over the course of his long life. There will be a graveside service at the Viola Cemetery in Tennessee at 2:30 PM on Saturday, April 9. Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
