Hobert Donald Smith, 92, of Tequesta, FL passed away peacefully on November 8th surrounded by his cherished family at the family cabin in Hillisville (Harrison Ferry Mountain), McMinnville, TN. Don was born January 25th, 1931 in McMinnville, TN to the late Allen Elijah Smith and Mina Belle Bess. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp and served our country during the Korean War. He chose a career as an Executive with the Boy Scouts of America and spent 35 years with the organization. As an Eagle Scout, himself, he mentored many young men to achieve the same distinguished accomplishment. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jupiter/Tequesta Florida. He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 69 inseparable years, Clara Barton Hillis; three children including sons, Chris Smith (April) and Tony Smith (Heather); daughter, Cindy Stuve; six grandchildren, Mary Cody, Christin Nigbur (Phillip), Chris Smith Jr. (Kristen), Charlie Stuve Jr., Carys Stuve and Jackson Smith; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; older bother, Allen Dale Smith and his many favorite nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, relatives and friends. The viewing will be Saturday, November 11th from 11-2pm at High Funeral Home, 101 College Street, McMinnville, TN. Burial services will be on Sunday, November 12th at 2:00p.m. at Crain Hill Cemetery, Rocky River, Van Buren County. Following the family will host a Celebration of his amazing life, sharing memories, stories and barbecue at the Warren Masonic Lodge, 308 East Main Street, McMinnville, TN.
