Homer Ray Roberts

McMinnville, TN resident and Sparta, TN native Homer Ray Roberts, age 78, was born February 12, 1945 and died May 15, 2023 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN following a brief illness.

A veteran of the United States Army and Tennessee Army National Guard and retired meat clerk with Kroger, he was the son of the late Homer Whitley and Bessie Baker Roberts. He was married to Catherine Courtney Roberts who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by sisters, Hazel Roberts, Wanda McGee and Arrie Mae; twin brother, Clay Roberts and brothers, James Roberts, Joseph Roberts, Dean Roberts, Clarence Vaughn Roberts, Wilfred Roberts, Harvey Roberts, Charles Roberts and Homer Whitley Roberts, Jr.

Mr. Roberts is survived by daughter, Sony (Robby) Patterson of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Tyler Patterson, Michael McCormick, Jagger McCormick, Khloe Lyle, Kaylee Lyle, Addison Eller and McKenzie Eller; sisters, Frances (Harlan) Whitley, Opal Williams and Jean Kirby; brothers, Fred (Bonnie) Roberts and Willard (Terry) Roberts; several nieces and nephews and daughters, Sherri Roberts Lyle and Terri Roberts (Daniel) Eller.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 in High’s Chapel with Jackie Matheny, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Roberts Cemetery in White County, TN. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.

Full military honors will be administered by Veterans Honor Guard of Cookeville.
