Buddy McBride, age 68, of Murphy, N.C. went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 29, 2020. He was a native of Warren County, Tennessee, where he had lived until moving to Murphy in 1994. Buddy served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He served with the 1st Air Calvary Division flying in and out of combat zones on Huey helicopters. Buddy had worked for himself as a truck driver. He had hauled everything from milk to propane. After moving to Murphy, he became owner of McBride Pallet Company. He was a member of Murphy Church of Christ and was instrumental in the construction of the new church on Highway 64 West. Buddy enjoyed dirt track racing and had driven in the past. He loved his grandchildren most of all and enjoyed telling everyone about them. He was the son of the late Howard Eugene Sr. and Ollie Mae Morgan McBride. Surviving are his loving wife, Brenda Hutchins McBride; son, Cody McBride and wife, Danielle of Murphy, N.C.; a sister, Gail Page of McMinnville, TN and three grandchildren, Hunter, Brooklyn, and Dakota McBride. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A private graveside and interment will be held for family only with Richard Bowman officiating. Military grave rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 173 Honor Guard.
