Hubert Porter Boyd, age 93, a McMinnville, TN resident and native was born August 4, 1925 and passed away September 5, 2018 in St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a brief illness.Mr. Boyd was a decorated World War II veteran, honored with two Purple Heart Service Medals, a National Defense Medal and WWII Combat Medal. He was a 60 year plus member of Warren Masonic Lodge No. 125 F. & A.M. and life member of Al Menah Shrine. He was the retired owner and operator of McMinnville Stone Company, a founding member of Westwood Church of Christ and son of the late F.C. and Sarah Jane Maxwell Boyd, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Virginia Wilson Boyd; brothers, Henry, Austin, Clark, Tallman, Bill, Fred, Robert, and F.C. Boyd, Jr.; sisters, Roberta Boyd, Lorena Boyd, Margaret Simon Northcutt, Ruth Boyd Ramsey; and an infant sibling.He was married February 24, 2001 to Billie Gray Tittle Brock Boyd who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by step-children and spouses, Greg and Jill Brock of McMinnville, Becky and Grant Major of LaGrange, GA, Brad and Melanie Brock of McMinnville, Brent and Jean Brock of McMinnville; grandchildren, Lauren Bowen, Ralston Major, John Woody Major, Georgia Mignon Ray, Barrett Brock, Andrew Brock, Graylin Brock, Liam Brock, Bunker Brock and Bailey Brock; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at Westwood Church of Christ with Richard O’Connor and Greg Brock to officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery with military grave rites conducted by American Legion Post 173.
