James Carl Panter, age 86, a Murfreesboro, TN resident and Warren County native was born November 25, 1932 and passed away November 22, 2019 at Boulevard Terrace Rehab-Nursing Center following an extended illness. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired engineer with A.O. Smith, a member of the Church of Christ, and the son of the late James Edward and Erma Curtis Panter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Evelyn Faye McGee Panter. He was married to Jimmie Christian Panter who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Marvin Larry Panter of Hermitage, TN and James Barry Panter of Alpharetta, GA; two step-children, Melvin and Melisa Ray of Smithville, TN and Marla and Jimmy Nix of Tullahoma, TN; four step-grandchildren; sister, Faye and Robert Warren of McMinnville, TN; niece, Andrea and Scott Thomson of Mt. Juliet, TN; nephew, Jeff and Cirle Warren of VA. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 in High’s Chapel with Bill Walkup officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery with military grave rites conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.
