McMinnville, TN resident and Giles County, TN native James Dwight Hopkins, age 72, was born May 22, 1945 and died May 8, 2018 at his sister's residence in Elkmont, AL following an extended illness.A self-employed construction worker and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Roy and Emma Bryant Hopkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Hopkins; sister, Betty Bond; and two brothers, Randall Hopkins and Buddy Evans.He was married to Peggy Lou Wray Hopkins of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Teresa Mechell Hopkins of McMinnville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Troy and Valerie Hopkins of McMinnville and James Hopkins of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Christina Hopkins, Amber Hopkins and Corey Hopkins; four great-grandchildren, Brayton Hopkins, Emma Cantrell, and Luke and Levi Hopkins; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Evans of Illinois, Connie and Hollis Blankenship of Elkmont, AL and Ann and Stanley Howell of Elkmont, AL; and several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 in High's Chapel with Thomas Robert Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at High's. There will be no burial.
