James Floyd “Jim” Simons, age 54, a McMinnville, TN resident and Detroit, MI native, was born December 19, 1966 and died February 23, 2021 at St. Thomas West following a sudden illness. He was the owner of Jim Simons Construction, a member of the Baptist faith, and the son of James Leonard “Pee Wee” and Shirley Yvonne Burtrum Simons of McMinnville, TN. He was preceded in death by mother-in-law, Willie Ann Summers; father-in-law, Calvin Summers; sister-in-law, Tracey Nunley; and uncle, Gary Simons. Mr. Simons was married February 14, 1991 to Kimberly Dawn Summers Simons of McMinnville, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Kara Dawn Simons, Sierra Jade Simons, Jamie Raven Brooke Simons, and Jaidence Kassalyn Rayne Simons; eight grandchildren, Ryder Simons, Hunter Simons, Swayze Simons, Elijah Simons, Levi Turner, Eliza Turner, Gunner Myers, and Gracelyn Myers; two brothers, Mike (Diana) Simons of Sparta, TN and Kevin Simons of Rock Island, TN; sister, Dana (Jansen) Odineal of Smartt Station; and special aunt, Nancy Watson of Smartt Station. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 in High’s Chapel with Glenn Chapman officiating.
